Adventure Week Recap

Wow! What an amazing Adventure Week we had here at HHICC. Over 45 children were able to discover how to live “fully alive” because Jesus loves them so much. Our memory verse for the week was “I have come so that they may have life. I want them to have it in the fullest possible way.” John 10:10. This week children lived in the fullest possible way by playing with giant beach balls and water balloons. They got to make crafts like masks, keychains, slime and journals. Kids got to have lunch from places like Chick-fil-a and Doughboys. And most importantly, your children learned that God has a plan for their lives and they are all part of a much BIGGER STORY! It is my prayer that your children walked away from this week with a better understanding of Jesus' love for them and a desire to tell others about Him!

I also must say THANK YOU to the many leaders and volunteers that helped make this week so successful. There were over 30 adults that represented the love of Christ by spending their mornings with your children during Adventure Week. All of our staff members as well as 14 amazing teenagers willingly served too! God was surely moving in a big way on the campus of HHICC this week!

If Hilton Head Island Community Church is your church home, we always appreciate your support of Adventure Week. If you are a guest, please be sure to come back and join us on Sunday mornings. Your kiddos can have just as much of an amazing time with us in Island Kids!

It was an honor to serve you and your children this week. Thank you for blessing us with them.

In God’s love,

Today marks the midpoint of our Belize 2018 Summer Missions trip!

Here is a quick overview of our trip thus far:

Saturday - Travel on Saturday could not have gone better. Our hosts, Pastor Kevin Tzib and Ellias Guerra, Gringo Guerra meet us outside of the airport in Belize City. All of our flights were on time which allowed us to enjoy a leisurely lunch at Old Belize overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. We then drove two hours into Belize to our hotel in San Ignacio. After a quick dinner we joined Oasis of Blessing Church (OOB) for their youth service which was exciting to say the least.

Sunday - After breakfast we joined OOB for their Sunday worship service. Some of our team lead the kids Sunday School during worship. On Sunday afternoon we met up with a large group of people from OOB and walked around San Ignacio picking up garbage on the street. That gave us a great chance to get to better know some of our friends here in Belize and to interact with many of the people who live in the city. There were many great conversations we had in our first service project.

Monday - Today was our first day in the villages. After provisioning and preparing for the day we drove the 45 minutes to the village of San Marcos. As we arrived in the village that we have visited so often over the past ten years the children ran out of their classrooms to greet our team with great enthusiasm. We ran VBS and a soccer clinic in the morning and had an excellent connection with the 30 plus kids who showed up. We were disappointed that when we arrived in Billy White the children were not in school and so we headed back to San Ignacio for dinner and to get some sleep after a great first two days of ministry.

Tuesday - Tuesday was perhaps the most successful day of ministry so far as we lead our VBS and soccer clinic in both San Marcos and Billy White. Our theme in VBS is “I can follow Jesus” and in soccer it’s “pray to prepare”. Our connection with the children of Billy White, a much bigger and unfamiliar village, happened surprisingly quick and was very strong.

The team is going great. Team unity is amazingly strong and we are working so well together. Everyone is staying hydrated and mainly healthy. We are so thankful for the opportunity to serve here, for safety and health thus far and for what God is doing in and through us. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!
