Over the last few months, I have been investing in our team of worship leaders for a new season of ministry. We have been learning together what it truly means to be a worship leader, how to lead others in worship, and how to grow in our faith journey as artists. We have had an amazing time learning and growing together for what God has called us to in this new season in our Worship Arts Ministry.
We are moving away from the traditional model of me leading worship with others every week. We have "officially" moved to a "team" approach of leading worship and our band and singers. I will oversee this team of worship leaders but we will operate as equals as we plan services together, choose songs, and work alongside our communicators each week. I am very excited about this new chapter at HHICC and feel so privileged to serve alongside this incredibly talented and passionate group of worship artists and Christ-followers. I cannot wait to see what happens!
Yesterday in our services, I shared my response to the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriage. This is our response as a church and represents what I feel reflects the mission, vision, and values of Hilton Head Island Community Church.
It is has been so much fun for me to be a part of our Kids Ministry Team the past couple of months on Sunday mornings. It's the first time in my ministry life that I have been able to be a part of the Sunday experience with my own kids. I can't tell you how much I have learned from this curriculum with our 1st-3rd and with our preteens. If you are a parent of a child 5th grade are under, you need to join our team. It is the most rewarding experiencing & I can't express how much it has added to the spiritual conversations in our house just because I am with my kids once a month on Sundays. Yes, shameless plug! This also begins a new season of ministry for me. I have been a worship leader on Sundays every week for 20+ years. The time has come for me to be a part of that team and no longer "the one" leading every week. I have invested in our team for the last 8 years as a church and God continues to bring new leaders into our ministry. I will continue to be the Programming Director and Musical Director of our Ministry, but now, all our Worship Leaders will be contributing in every way including choosing worship sets, leading rehearsals, and investing in our team. I'm excited that this season has come for me to be mentoring and developing our team while still being an active part as "one of the worship leaders" at HHICC.
Todd and I are so honored to be serving alongside our HHICC family as we together reach our Island with the Message of Jesus Christ. We are also ready for this next season as our kids and students both have amazing environments to engage with God each week and with each other. They are the next generation. They are the NOW generation. Great days are ahead!
