Click below to watch a video from one of our Volunteer Leaders, Jeanette Davis, as she explains how simple storage space is a barrier to provide MORE food to MORE children who are in need right here in our own community. It’s simple...MORE storage means helping MORE children.
40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ - Matthew 25:40 (ESV)
In this parable, Jesus told his disciples that by serving those in need we are, in turn, serving Jesus himself. That is astonishing when you stop to think about it...we actually have the opportunity to serve the One who served us by giving His life!
What that means is we get to serve Jesus in many small but significant ways. We serve Him when we take a meal to someone who is sick, or when we pull out our own wallets to help someone in line at the grocery store when they find themselves short by a dollar or two or when we serve children of Hilton Head Island by filling a backpack with non-perishable food.
As it stands right now, HHICC has run out of room to store canned good and other backpack supplies to help more children. By securing Building B, we solve that problem. Not only will it provide ample space for HHICC and our partners to spread out and organize community efforts, but a large part of Building B will be dedicated to providing storage for many of our community partners just like Backpack Buddies.
Imagine what could happen in our community if we were able to partner with Backpack Buddies to feed EVERY child on the free or reduced lunch program. When that happens we can, to a greater degree, meet the physical and spiritual need of the “least of these” around us.
Are you ALL IN?
