Our Story

How it all started...

Hilton Head Island Community Church was started in September 2007 as a regional campus of LowCountry Community Church.  Todd and Cynthia Cullen moved from New York City with their almost 3 year old daughter and six-week old son to plant this campus. In September 2011,  HHICC was "birthed" by LCC with their blessing and financial assistance to become its own independent congregation.

In February 2012, HHICC signed a contract to purchase a permanent facility on the Island within the Hargray Complex near Mile Marker 9 on Highway 278. This facility has 13,000 square feet of space on approximately three acres. We had our first services in July 2012.

HHICC has a main building for adults, kids, and student programming space. We have also added a lawn, a playground, and a patio outside of  Backstage. In 2018, we purchased the building in front of our main building and renovated it for office, community use, and groups. The Community Center opened in Fall 2019.

Expanding the vision...

In 2018, we launched ALL IN, a two-year generosity initiative. Our primary goal was to see every person who calls HHICC their church home embrace a generous lifestyle and learn the importance of being a good steward of the financial resources they have been blessed with in their life. Our numeric goal was to receive a total of 3.5 million by June 2020. We surpassed our goal and received 3.6 million!

This allowed us to continue to meet our weekly budget need, pay off our original buildings and land, continue church planting efforts in Belize and NYC, and to purchase and renovate our COMMUNITY CENTER located directly on William Hilton Parkway in front of our Main Building.

We are currently in a campaign called "GET  IT DONE" to pay off the remaining $650K of our mortgage.

Where we are headed...

Our world has changed, but our DNA is the same.

Our desire is to be a church where all people can passionately worship God, where all people can come without fear of judgment. We want to be a church that provides safe communities for people to connect with others and grow in their relationship with God. Our desire is to be intentional in reaching the next generation with the Message of Jesus Christ. We want to be a church that is “the first call” in our local community serving in whatever way is needed, a generous church that is debt-free so that we can give generously to local and global missions. We want to be a church with a global presence advancing the Message of Jesus Christ.
